NDDOT Starting Salary: $7,967 / month
Summary of Work
The Highway Maintenance Superintendent plays a vital role in coordinating, planning, and budgeting the district’s maintenance program. You will oversee operations, prioritize maintenance activities, and support budget analysis to optimize fund allocation. Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the shop, sign shop, and maintenance sections to ensure smooth operations.
Training maintenance personnel and evaluating employee performance.
Monitoring compliance with NDDOT and district policies.
Supervising section supervisors and maintenance crews, including scheduling and work inspections.
Dispatching crews and equipment during emergencies and managing snow/ice control operations.
Ensuring workplace and maintenance work zone safety through training, inspections, and compliance monitoring.
Addressing public concerns and fostering relationships with personnel, the public, and state and local agencies.
Using and assisting personnel with the latest Department technology.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires an associate degree in engineering technology and five years of highway experience; two years of the experience must have included supervision duties.
Work experience performing highway maintenance activities may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Requires work after hours, on weekends, and holidays during emergency events. Will be at times required to report to work within 30 minutes during emergency or storm situations.
Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, medical screening, reference check and driving records check.
