This is a temporary position with no paid benefits.*

All internships are paid full-time summer of 2026 positions.

Summary of Work
With roughly 70 full-time employees, we are responsible for 1,799 lane miles of roadway, ensuring everything from highway construction and bridge maintenance to traffic engineering and sign upkeep is handled with care. We also manage roadside maintenance, rest area and visitor center upkeep, materials testing, and equipment and vehicle maintenance to ensure our roads remain safe and functional. Our team works hard every day to keep North Dakota's transportation network in top shape.

During this internship, the intern will be exposed to various aspects of engineering, including reading and comprehending NDDOT plans and specifications, allowing them to develop a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in construction projects. They will have the opportunity to actively participate in materials testing, construction surveying, and construction inspection.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be enrolled in civil/construction or similar engineering undergraduate degree program.
• Requires ability to lift and carry a total weight of up to 50 pounds.
• Possession of a valid Class D drivers license for travel within the state of North Dakota.

Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and successful completion of a job function screening.
